WHAT IS PROFILE BALANCING?
The profile balancing treatment considers the appearance of the entire face and how the features compliment each other in terms of proportion, facial harmony and balance. This treatment can address the concerns you may experience through the way your characteristics have been naturally formed, or from the changes to their appearance as a result of the ageing process (or a combination of both).
Conditions such as: flat cheeks, a weak jawline, receding chin, misshapen nose and thin lips are most commonly treated with profile balancing, also known as ‘profiloplasty’, to create a more defined appearance overall.
THE TREATMENT PROCESS
Profile balancing consists of a series of dermal filler treatments. Hyaluronic acid fillers are found to be the most effective way to enhance the features and facial contours. They are administered using a fine needle and specific injection points are decided according to your concerns. Dermal fillers provide the underlying tissues with additional volume which can work to accentuate the individual bone structure, creating definition as well as disguising any crooked lines.
Before we go ahead with the treatment we’ll need to carry out a pre-treatment consultation to establish which areas of the face need addressing, and to discuss the results you are likely to achieve. We usually perform the entire facial profiling treatment on the same day, but if separate sessions are needed we’ll explain this at the consultation.
AFTERCARE AND RESULTS
Immediately after the treatment the face may feel tender, and will be experiencing other side effects. It is advisable to avoid strenuous exercise (including going to the gym), hot baths / showers, heavy lifting, applying make-up and unnecessary touching or rubbing of the treatment area for up to 48 hours. This will allow the filler to settle effectively into place.
The results are usually immediate, and a more aesthetically pleasing, harmonious appearance can be seen.

Profile balancing is a procedure that’s tailored to the individual, which makes it suitable for any person who is unhappy with their overall appearance, and is suitable for dermal fillers.
Dermal fillers are safe to use when recommended by a medical / properly trained professional. They contain a high concentration of hyaluronic acid which is naturally produced by the skin, and doesn’t usually cause a reaction.
A topical numbing cream can be administered prior to treatment to help minimise any discomfort. However, many dermal filler products contain a mild anaesthetic and most patients find the treatment is tolerable.
Swelling, bruising and facial redness often develops immediately after treatment. This will settle within a few days and doesn’t usually cause any lasting downtime. If side effects persist, or further complications develop (which are uncommon), please contact the clinic.
Profile balancing is often carried out in one treatment session. Depending on the amount of areas that need addressing, more than one session may be needed. Many patients return every 6 – 9 months to maintain their new look.
