Skinpen microneedling is a treatment that can help to improve the quality and condition of the complexion. A handheld device is moved over the surface of the affected area so that a smoother, more even tone can be achieved.
This treatment can be used on the face and neck, and will create a more radiant complexion, reducing the appearance of conditions such as: lines and wrinkles, sagging skin and acne scarring.
The Skinpen device contains a series of tiny needles and when they are rolled across the surface of the skin, creates a succession of microchannels. This triggers the body’s natural process of repair which starts to rejuvenate the complexion from the inside out. During this process the skin starts to become cleansed and new tissues grow. The wounds will then repair themselves with new collagen and blood vessels, remodelling both the internal and external structure of the skin. Patients are often recommended to undergo a course of 3 treatments, carried out 4 – 6 weeks apart.
With Skinpen, around 90% of patients achieve effective results. The outcome will usually develop over a period of several weeks as the body works to produce collagen and regenerate new skin cells. Gradually the skin will become smoother, firmer and brighter, creating an appearance that is both younger-looking and radiant.
The results can last for between 3 and 5 months, and many patients will repeat the procedure once or twice a year to maintain their look.
Skinpen microneedling is suitable for many people with differences in skin type and tone, however you may not be suitable if your skin has an active infection or long-term medical condition. Patients of all ages visit The Facebible for this treatment in order to improve a wide range of conditions, and a thorough consultation will determine your suitability.
The Skinpen device has undergone rigorous testing, and has been clinically approved for safety. Any concerns can be discussed with your practitioner during the consultation.
As the Skinpen device is designed to pierce the skin, it is likely that some discomfort may be felt. This should only be very mild and a topical numbing may be used to help ease any sensitivity.
Following the treatment the skin may become red and slightly swollen. Many patients describe their skin as feeling like they have minor sunburn. These effects don’t usually last for too long, often having disappeared within 1 or 2 days.
In most cases a course of up to 3 procedures are needed to achieve the desired result. These sessions are usually performed between 4 and 6 weeks apart, with the results developing further with each session.
